another type of addiction

Posted by
hello everyone my name is coldgirl. and i have an addiction to cutting. I am 35 and have been doing this for the past 15years. I think that part of me wants to quit, but the other part of me realizes that's the only control i have . So i don't want to give it up. The last time i was hospitalized, i was warned that the next time i was going to be committed by a judge for at least 30 days. Anyway that's me. Plus i suffer from major depression and i have borderline personality disorder.

Dear coldgirl, You said a part of you wants to quit the cutting behavior, but it is the only "control" you have. Actually , you have all the control. It is not from cutting, it comes from your thoughts. Any situation can be viewed in either a positive manner, or a negative manner. The decision is all yours and that is where the control comes from. From you and your choice. I know this because I have learned to do this myself and it has worked for 30 years. It takes practice.
