Adult children with autism

Any one else here with an adult autistic child?  We hear so much about autistic children - but they do grow up!

The biggest challenge is communication.  Our son is non-verbal but does know some sign language.  He usually will use it only if prompted to do so.  We are careful not to change his routine too much, to him routine is RULES.  On the other hand, he does enjoy occasional changes if they are pleasant and temporary.  Our biggest worry is what will happen to him after we are gone.

my 11 year is nonverbal is well ,i use pictures when ever i can she loves to tear paper most of the time she pull me to things.I know what she want most of the timeam her mom . i worry sometime but itrust  in god and i give it to him .live,love,help,enjoy,forgive

Quote my  soon to be 21 year old  boy in one way dose adult things but still behaves as a 5 year old, he only taalks to tell u what he wants, stays in his room ,afraid to do public things ,like parks  beach, still orders kids meals and wants a toy,, my problem is finding a school for him,, public school pushes get a job for him,,he cant work his mind is not there and been proved in court, i should know i raised him...his teacher in 6,7,8th grade  hurt him bad,,,he dont trust adults anymore ....bobbys mom
