Happy 4th of July from the beach!

I'm celebrating the 4th of July this year at the beach!  The sun is shining, the ocean waves are breaking on the sandy shore and the boardwalk food is calling my name.  Fresh cut French fries, pizza, caramel popcorn.....all their delectable aromas wafting in the warm sea breeze.  No doubt thousands of orders will be purchased by hungry beach goers just like me. 

I recently started reading David A. Kessler's book "The end of overeating: taking control of the insatiable American appetite.  Thought provoking to be sure!  Part one is titled:  Sugar, Fat, Salt.  I'm sure lots of sugar, fat and salt are all being ingested here at the beach on this 4th of July holiday.

I'm thankful for my favorite little cafe and juice bar that serves up fresh vegetable and fruit juices and healthy sandwiches and salads. I'll stop by every day for a healthy drink.  And as for my favorite beach treats?  I'll enjoy every bite (in moderation)!  After all, beach treats always taste best when shared (saving calories) with  family and friends.
