Introducing MyPyramid for Preschoolers

During the American Dietetic Association's National Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo in Chicago last month, the USDA released its new Food Guide Pyramid for Preschoolers (2-5 years old).

By entering your child's sex, age and exercise habits, you will be provided with a customized MyPyramid plan that will show what and how much your child should eat to meet his or her nutritional needs.  It will also provide you with ideas to help you plan meals.

Emphasis is placed on the fact that parents have the most influence on their children.  Parents can help children develop healthy eating habits by setting good examples, offering a variety of foods, following a meal and snack schedule and helping them know when they've had enough.  And it's important to make food fun. Visit http://mypyramid.gov/preschoolers/index.html for more valuable information.
