I believe that there is way too much cosmetic surgery done for all the wrong reasons in this country, and there are too many doctors too willing to do it just for the exorbitant fees that they collect for the services. Many women have cosmetic surgery where they should in fact be seeking the care of a psychiatrist or psycologist, for treatment of thier brain rather than their body, as that is the real source of their "problem(s)". Too many women, (and men too), have too much money and time on their hands and too much vanity with which to funel those resources into, rather than to spend their energies on more responsible and fruitful ventures and venues on. I realize that it is their money, their bodies, their time, their egos, their perogitives, but it is also their loss, and their being a laughing stock to everyone who sees their pointless self-indulgence. So, while it is only my point of view, and makes no difference to anyone who is spending their money on these ridiculous procedures, I'm saying it anyway. This does not have anything to do with those people who NEED procedures to correct defects, medical or otherwise, only those who are electing to do vanity procedures. Get your head fixed first, then proceed if necessary to the next step.
People who actually need some types of surgery that insurance companies call "cosmetic" surgery, cannot receive these procedures because they are not covered by employee group "insurance", and are much too expensive to be paid "out of pocket" for the "average" person. Examples would be such as a person with scoliosis who was over weight, and has now lost a large amount of weight and seriously needs to have a lot of loose skin reduced, but cannot afford the proceedures. Or a serious breast reduction to improve the health and quality of life, but again, the cost is prohibitive. Multiply these and similar conditions by thousands, and that is the situation of the "average" middle calss American in today's world.
In today's world, America is a great country as long as you are fortunate to be born healthy and wealthy, or are able to aquire and sustain a level of wealth in order to afford an illness in the future, otherwise you are out of luck as far as a future goes.
