Confessions of an Endorphin Junky
By Natalie Vavricka

Being a long distance runner and health nut for the past 15 years, I've always noticed a direct correlation between my diet and exercise routine and my mood. Endorphins, serotonin, and all other 'happy chemicals' can be boosted by eating certain foods - - and by sweating! Join me on my neverending quest for happiness through what I eat...and how often I move my body .

Split Up Your Cardio For More Efficient Fat Burning

Last night, my roommate mentioned that she wants to really get into shape for a wedding that she's going to be?a part of?in early June.? This gives her a little over a month, which, in my opinion, is more than enough time, as she's already a lean, fit girl.? All she needs to do is really dedicate herself to the gym, and she'll be fine.

My 'professional' suggestions included cutting out booze (especially drinks like vodka-cranberry that are basically all sugar), drinking more water, increasing fiber intake - - and most importantly, doing at least 45 minutes of cardio 4 days a week, but?instead of doing 45 minutes all at once, SPLIT?up this one session into two session of maybe 25 min for one and 20 for the other.? Taking a rest of at least 20 minutes between the two sessions has been shown in studies to increase your body's metabolism and ability to burn fat more efficiently.

You can also break these two sessions up into morning/night workouts.? I prefer to just keep 20 minutes in between and either lift weights, stretch, do sit-ups...or just watch some tv Tongue out

I'm a self-proclaimed exercise addict and endorphin junky and also the Community Manager here at Quality Health Connect. Running abnormally long distances, jumping out of helicopters, doing chin-ups, laughing, smiling, and eating bananas, chocolate, and other 'happy' foods are just a few of my many favorite things
