No more store-bought salad dressing!
Dan and I have been on this kick for awhile now that before we buy food at the supermarket, we read the label to make sure we can pronounce everything that's in that particular food. We've made some great switches after making realizations such as: Is it REALLY necessary for high fructose corn syrup to be in bread? It's amazing how empowered we feel when we buy breakfast cereal composed of ingredients such as quinoa, barley, and other healthy ingredients, while devoid of any chemicals, concoctions or preservatives.
Just the other day, I looked at a label of salad dressing and was flabbergasted at the list of ingredients. It went on and on, and I could only pronounce a few. A couple, though I could pronounce them, were bad news anyway: high fructose corn syrup (there that is again) and partially hydrogenated soybean oil. That night, I made my own salad dressing (with balasmic vinegar, olive oil, mustard, honey, and some spices) and devoured it with my salad the next day. Store-bought salad dressing? Never again.
As I said, Dan and I are doing our best to go pure with all the food we eat. Just because the manufacturers think it's okay (or cost-efficient) to put disgusting chemicals and preservatives in the food we eat, I'm not putting that garbage in my body. I take too much pride in my health to mess it up.
