fibroids and cancer

Does anyone know anything about fibroids and the risk of cancer? My coworker has them in her uterus and she's concerned that they might be cancerous. She's already overcome thyroid cancer.

I would recommend testing since fibroids are commonly misdiagnosed. My mom was told she had fibroids and it was ovarian cancer. Early detection is the best.
