Getting over a cold when you're pregnant

I've been told that it takes longer to get over a cold when you're pregnant. Could it be that you're immune system is strained from having to take care of both the baby and the mother?

I had a terrible cold when I was pregnant with my son. I pride myself on getting over colds much faster than most people, but it took so much longer to beat the cold when I was pregnant. I was sniffling and sneezing for over two weeks.
