Hearing Loss From Ear Wax?

Posted by Lila463

I woke up this morning and I could barely hear out of my left ear.  I feel like it's clogged and am wondering if it could be wax? I've never had my ears drained but people have told me that if it builds up it can block your eardrum. Is this true?

Hi Lila,

This is actually something that used to happen with me on a yearly basis.  My grandfather used to have the same problem.  Some people have one ear that doesn't flush itself naturally as well as the other, and visiting and Ear Nose and Throat doctor can help prevent these blockages.  They will gently flush excess wax and you'll get your hearing back asap, assuming there aren't any other underlying issues :)

Good luck!

Natalie
