Crown vs Filling

Posted by CarolCares

I recently had a root canal. They didn't have to drill my tooth down to a nub, they just hollowed the tooth out. I'm wondering if I should just stick to the filling or actually get a crown. The crown is pretty expensive so I'm hesitant. Can anyone give me advice on what to do?

I've been told that crowns are stronger and last longer than fillings. It also looks smother and more real when you have a crown. Insurance does cover a portion of the cost so make sure to find out how much they will pay. I think the crown is a better bet.

I just had the same thing done and I feel so weird having a fake tooth (crown). It just feels so odd to have a foreign object in your body like that. I wonder if people with metal bits and pins in their bodies felt the same way in the beginning?
