Root canal info

My dentist says I may need to get a root canal. She assured me that the procedure is a simple one. From what I've heard it's quite painful.

Depending on how bad the cavity is, they may just be able to put a filling in there. That's what happened to me. Once they started drilling they realized that the cavity had not reached the root yet. I was saved!

The pain isn't so bad. They numb your mouth before any work begins. I recommend you take some motrin before the procedure. You'll be fine.

I had a bit of pain afterwards. Try to have soup and luke warm drinks for the rest of the day. One thing I wasn't told was that having a root canal is a two step process. They clean the tooth during one visit and then put the crown on at the second visit. Just something to keep in mind.

This is comforting news to hear. My dentist just informed me that I'm going to need a root canal. I guess all those years of not flossing regularly have really caught up with me. Do you think I'll be able to go to work the next day? Or will I need a day of recovery?
