Re: midnight muncher

You may be suffering from a disorder known as night eating syndrome (NES), diagnosed when a person eats during the night with full awareness (as opposed to Snocturnal sleep-related eating disorder? which occurs during sleepwalking).  I recommend you see a sleep disorders specialist to receive proper diagnosis and treatment.

Symptoms of NES include the following and often last for at least 2 months:
Little or no appetite for breakfast
Eating more food after dinner than during the meal
Eating more than half of daily food intake after dinner
Recurrent awakenings from sleep requiring eating to fall back asleep.

Nutrition recommendations for people with NES include eating regularly during the day, instead of trying to diet, which leaves you more hungry at night.  Limit or avoid alcohol or caffeine, especially during the evening.  Both can interfere with sleep.   Regular exercise can help you manage stress and improve sleep, but exercise at least 4 hours before bed, otherwise this might interfere with sleep.

Best wishes and let us know about your progress.
