In need of a friend

Posted by witchb

I am a bad chocolate but have diabetes. I need to lose a lot of weight but get no support at home.  I will start eating right -- a lot of veggies but then I eventually give up ( usually the same day ) and end up  and just go for chocolate.  With no one to talk to it is just too easy to give up before I start.  Need a friend who understands.

I totally understand.  I am also a Type II diabetic who cannot get my blood sugars under 200.  It is a daily struggle for me.  I've given up drinking soda (occassionally have a diet soda) and drink mostly water and tea (sweetened with sweetn low).  Occassionally have a sugar free vanilla iced coffee from McDonalds.  My downfall is I love carbs and that is the one thing we have to control portions on.  I will eat salads but do not like most vegetables.  Most lettuces are okay and I do like most leafy greens.  Do not like radishes, cauliflower, asparagus, sprouts of any kind, onions, peppers,  and a host of other things I can't think of right now.  In the protein department, I do not like seafood.  Try to limit the red meats I consume so that leaves me with chicken, eggs, cheese.  IWhile I do like chocolate, because I also have GERD and acid reflux, I'm not supposed to eat it and can live without it for long periods of time.  A big downfall for me is ice cream.  Absolutely love it but only have it maybe twice a week.  I just need someone to help motivate me to stay the course, be more proactive over the choices I make and get this blood sugar under 200 and under control.  I'm sure together, we can do this!!!
