Two years ago, I was on Zoloft, It didn't really help. I weaned off Zoloft and went on Flax Seed Oil. In two weeks, my mood improved and so did my health. My indigestion went away. My knee joints stopped hurting. I am sold! By the way, I take the capsules. The stuff is hard to swallow!

To help control weight, try the following tips:
' Have your diet analyzed by a Registered Dietitian who can pinpoint problem areas and fine tune your eating habits to promote weight loss and health at the same time. To find a Registered Dietitian in your area visit the American Dietetic Association's website at www.eatright.org and click on Find a Nutrition Professional.
' Work with a personal trainer to help you fine tune your exercise routine and push you to the next level. Exercise is a great way to increase brain levels of serotonin, which may be depleted due to depression.
' Slightly decrease portion sizes to shave off hundreds of calories each day. If you take in just 100 calories less each day than you burn, you can lose 10 pounds in a year.
' Include high fiber foods to become satisfied with fewer calories. High fiber foods include legumes/beans, whole grains, fruits and vegetables.
' Eat regularly, including breakfast. Skipping meals is the enemy of weight loss and may cause mood swings due to dips in blood sugar levels.
And as for flaxseed and flaxseed oil, they contain alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), an essential fatty acid and belongs to a group of substances called omega-3 fatty acids. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to reduce inflammation and help prevent certain chronic diseases such as heart disease and arthritis. They appear to be particularly important for cognitive and behavioral function as well as normal growth and development.
