It is VERY important to find a doctor who will treat a patient with Fibromyalgia. There are some doctors out there who do not believe FM is a true illness.
There ignorance is their loss. Check one of the websites and review the symptoms with your Mother. I've had FM associated with Immune problems and arthritis, since I was 12 yrs. old. It's a very unpredictable illness & pain is a primary symptom associated with FM. The good news isthatI found some fantastic medical help and I see a pain speciialist. Life is some what better for me, especially in the past 6 months. The more RESEARCH you do, the better you'll be able to HELP your Mom. If she is DX with FM, she will need
TONS of support and a lot of love & compassion. I wish you all the best in your endevavors.
God Bless you for wanting to help your Mom.

I have had fibromyalgia for over 15 years. It took me over five to find a Dr. to agree I wasn't Crazy. No I wasn't lasy ! I was sick ! I was in pain !
Problem was there wasn't much in the of medications or therapies being used at the time
I have found the best Drs to treat this condition have been pain management specialist. New drugs & therapies are now available.

Fibromyalgia is characterized by persistent pain and extreme exhaustion. But it's definitely so much more than that. The pain is usually widespread soreness. I definitely suggest your mom visit a doctor, who can run tests to make a diagnosis. I recently got diagnosed, and it feels so good to finally have a reason for my symptoms.

My fibro involved pain all throughout my body and i was just SO TIRED! What types of symptoms are you experiencing. I suggest your mom visit your doctor (and maybe you can go with her). The doctor may refer her to a specialist, like a rheumatologist. Tell her not to give up! Some doctors think fibro is a made-up condition, and that needs to change! That's why it's so important for people to be educated on the condition and to be made aware of it. Good luck. Let us know what happens.
