Alcohol and Sleep

Lately, I've been saving the later evening hours to get things done, since that's the only un-interrupted time without my 3 and 5 year old's being so active. However, it is very difficult to fall asleep, and while I enjoy the me-time, my 3-year-old son wakes up at 6 am, and I never have enough sleep. Sometimes I resort to 1 glass of wine or 1 beer before bed. If I drink somewhat fast, I can get to sleep without too much trouble and without anything else. I never drink during the day, and very rarely at any other occasion. My family has no history of alcoholism. I heard that red wine could be good for you one a day. Is this so bad? What can I do? Hiring help is out of the question, and my husband works out of town, so he can't provide relief. Also, all of the parents are out of town, and my son has huge separation anxiety.
