Sheri Colberg, PhD, is an exercise physiologist and professor of exercise science at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, as well as being an adjunct professor of internal medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School. With an undergraduate degree from Stanford University and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, she continues to conduct extensive clinical research in diabetes, exercise, healthy lifestyles, aging, and more with funding from the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and others.

To date, she has authored 8 books: The Diabetic Athlete (2001), Diabetes-Free Kids (2005), The 7 Step Diabetes Fitness Plan (2006), 50 Secrets of the Longest Living People with Diabetes (2007), The Science of Staying Young (2007), Matt Hoover's Guide to Life, Love, and Losing Weight (2008), Diabetic Athlete's Handbook (2009), and Diabetes? No Problema! (2009). In addition, she has authored well over 175 research and educational articles on exercise, diabetes, healthy lifestyles, and more.

Dr. Colberg has over four decades years' worth of practical experience as a (type 1) diabetic exerciser and person living successfully with diabetes. She is the lead author of a position stand on "Exercise and Type 2 Diabetes" for the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Diabetes Association, the ADA rep to the National Physical Activity Plan, and an ADA Prevention Committee member.

 A frequent lecturer, she is also a reviewer for many scientific journals, grants, and books, a member of many medical and advisory boards, a fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine, a professional member of the ADA, and a member of the Board of Directors for the Diabetes Exercise & Sports Association.
