Dr. Daniel Fass is currently director of the Institute for Image Guided Radio Therapy (IGRT) in Rye, New York, where he specializes in treating patients with TomoTherapy, a precise radiation therapy that reduces radiation side effects in patients with prostate, lung, and breast cancer, among others. Dr. Fass's center is one of over 200 such TomoTherapy centers across the country. Dr. Fass, the former director of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Greenwich Hospital since 1992, still retains privileges at Greenwich Hospital where he instituted the first 3-D RT program in the state of Connecticut and continued to advance treatment practice with IMRT, Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy. Dr. Fass who is also an assistant professor of radiation oncology at Cornell Medical School, served as President of the New York Metropolitan Breast Group, and is on the Medical Advisory Board of Breast Cancer Alliance. He is also a member of numerous scientific societies. A resident of Riverside, Connecticut, Dr. Fass attended the six-year BS/MD program at Howard University, graduating with Alpha Omega Alpha honors in 1983. He completed a residency in Radiation Oncology at New York University Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident. Following his residency, he continued his training at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center where he was the Brachytherapy Fellow. He remained on staff at Sloan Kettering and was promoted to Assistant Professor of Medicine. During his tenure at Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Dr. Fass led the clinical team that pioneered the use of 3-dimensional radiation therapy. His published work includes the first report of 3-D RT in the treatment of head and neck cancer. |
