chronic constipation

Posted by scarlett

I have several health issues I would like to know if any of you suffer chronic constipation I hate laxatives I try all the natural remedies finally giving up and taking the laxative I always wait to long my belly is hard plus very disgusting. I am a small person and I look 5months pregnant. If anyone can give me some advice I would deeply appreciate it. I have told my gastro dr he said drink more water and take mira-lax this did nothing to help me.

I realize your message is a little old now, but I too share your grief with chronic constipation. I put the Miralax in my cup of tea and it does work, but then you run out and the problem comes back.  Another expense.  Probiotics help too, but problem returns again.

I just watched a video and saw that there is a prescription called Zelnorm which boosts the seratonin levels in the nervous system,  I will be asking my doctor for.  I have Fibromyalgia which affects the nervous system as does constipation.  You may have already found your answer, let me know.

I.too suffer from chronic and severe constipation caused by cancer.  My Oncologist recommended Mira-Lax and said it was safe to take as many times a day as I needed to.  I usually take it 4 times each day.  There is a cheaper generic which I am going to ask about.  It also contains nothing that your system will become dependent on.

Jamnstv, sorry for your cancer diagnosis.  I only use a half dose a day of the Miralax but its not working.  I will try 1-2 a day or more like you said, Thanks,  Also trying to eat more fruits and vegtables which helps a little, Good Luck
