Texas Considers Raising Smoking Age to 21
In Texas, one out of every five adults smokes; while more than half of U.S. smokers tried to quit last year, only one of every 20 actually did it. Add to that the fact that most smokers in Texas -- 90% -- start before the legal age of 18 and it's easy to see why a state senator wants the legal smoking age raised to 21.
